REED TIPS

You can never have too many reeds!
The average life of an oboe reed is 10 hours.
Always have several reeds, and rotate them on a daily basis.
Learn to play on "not the reed of your dreams." You may have to play a concert on such a reed at some point.
DO NOT OVERSOAK YOUR REED. Dip it in water, shake off the excess, and let it set for a minute or two before playing.
Reeds are extremely sensitive to weather and climate changes. If you traveling to a different climate or part of the country, take along reeds of different resistances, just to be safe.
There is no such thing as "the perfect reed."
Playing the oboe is a life long journey. ENJOY!
